Puppy Love

Puppy Love

It’s been one of those days that requires the therapy of a cute puppy drawing. This little guy was done with PanPastel, and white and black charcoal pencil on gray-toned paper.

Hope he makes you smile!

Mouse with Raspberries

Mouse with Raspberries

In last week’s drawing class we continued our journey into composition, focusing on ways to blend multiple reference photos into a single layout.

By taking several different photos and combining parts of each you can build a story. As you may guess my drawing was influenced by my fondness of the art of Beatrix Potter. I think this little guy would have a lot of fun in Mr. McGregor’s garden. “Mouse with Raspberries” is available at my shop.

Until next time…keep those pencils sharp!

First Dandelion

First DandelionHubby and I spied the first dandelion bravely growing against the house foundation on Saturday afternoon. Most people would cringe at the sight of one of these flowers but not us, we are actually happy to see it.

To commemorate the occasion I did a quick study of the flower and leaf using a few of my new PanPastel colors that hubby bought me for my birthday. I think the Hansa Yellow really captures the bright sunny flower head. A few streak of white were all that was needed to give it some sparkle.

So the next time you see a dandelion instead of pulling it up and tossing it away pick up a sketchbook and have some fun drawing it. You might be surprised at how interesting they are.

Cheers!
