Luna Moth

This year is the first year that I saw a luna moth. I had heard about how large their wingspan is but until you see one it’s hard to fully appreciate the size. They are beautiful, from the eye spots on the wing, to the fluffy body and funny antennae. I was lucky this one wasn’t bothered by my camera. Their binomial name is Actias luna.

Swan Song

SwanA friend shared a watercolor pencil book with me the other day and as I was flipping through it there was a drawing of a swan on colored paper. It was so simple and peaceful that I decided to sketch my own version. I’ve only ever seen swans in pairs so next time I’ll have to give him a friend.
