Continuing the theme of art inspired by Chinese Brush Paintings I thought I’d share this piece that I finished recently.
For the last several months I’ve taken an interest in Chinese Brush Painting, especially those in the “Literati” style. The depth of the works achieved with such simplicity and expressiveness is truly fascinating. So being one who likes an artistic challenge I decided to see if I could impart a little of the brush painting techniques using Western brushes and paints. This little moth was drawn with ink and marker after he landed next to me on the sofa. From the way he was fluttering around I don’t think he liked the movie that was on.
This watercolor and colored pencil drawing was done for a friend who liked the color purple.
